Les Paul, Gibson and the Les Paul guitar have always been about innovation. Now, Gibson is bringing the innovation of Robot Guitar tuning technology to the classic Les Paul model with the release of the Les Paul Standard 2010 Limited. With a legacy as one of the most versatile electric guitars available, the new Les Paul knocks versatility right off the charts, courtesy of Gibson USA.

From the raw, biting crunch of a hot, chrome-covered, hum-canceling P-90H in the neck position and the sizzling wail and punch of an overwound BurstBucker 3 in the bridge, to the subtle acoustic response of its piezo bridges saddles — and any conceivable blend of the three, accessed instantly from the MCK — the Les Paul Standard 2010 Limited really does pack all the tonal colors of the rainbow. And to keep it all sounding true, Gibson’s exclusive Robot Technology puts you perfectly into tune in seconds at the push of a button, or shifts you into any of a countless number of open and alternate tunings, all accessed at your command. thask gibson

Harp Guitar Music Duane Noble Harp Guitar

I am extremely pleased to offer this brand new 2007 harp guitar by Washington luthier Duane Noble. Folks, the photos just can't do this instrument justice. Stunning and beautiful with amazing quilted mahogany back and sides (which I can only describe as "furry"), the quality and details are world class. This aesthetically pleasing instrument is one of my personal favorite contemporary designs within the growing harp guitar movement. It is a joy to play, ergonomic (how did I ever get along without an arm bevel?!), and lest I forget, it sounds wonderful!
Rich sustain with lots of overtones, yet beefy enough to handle any tuning and string gauges. With 14 frets to the body and a significant cutaway, there are way more high notes to be had than any vintage instrument.
Vaguely Knutsen-like, rather than Dyer-shaped, Duane's unique design dispels once and for all the headstock/arm bracket myth, enabling him to use Gotoh mini 18:1 tuners for easy, precise tuning on all 12 strings.
Duane builds with the perfect mix of woods, trim and decoration - bindings, rosettes, subtle inlay (the frets are marked on the side of the fingerboard where they should be) - resulting in lines, colors and textures that combine into musical instrument artistry.
Can you tell I love this harp guitar? True, I'm a player, not a salesman, so nothing but my-heart-on-my-sleeve at Harp Guitar Music!
P.S. Duane prices his instruments very competitively. Buy it before he gets wise.
- Gregg Miner, the "harp guitar pope"
You can see and hear this very instrument (though video quality is poor) on my NPR interview (click the "Listen" button).

Greenfield Guitars ® Brahms Guitar

Brahms Guitar

Commissioned by guitarist Paul Snyder, this instrument is inspired by the work of the great David Rubio, who crafted the original for concert player Paul Galbraith.

The Brahms Guitar is my model C1 married with the Novax fanned fret system and 2 extra strings. It is lattice braced, has an elevated fret board, negative neck angle and has an added low A to the outside on the bass side and a high A to the outside on the treble side.

The instrument has incredible clarity with perfect balance from string to string. A solid fundamental is supported by round, bell like highs and a delicate yet lush over-tone series.

It is simply a spectacular instrument.

Greenfield Guitars ® Model G4.2

Originally designed for Greenfield Guitars endorser, guitar contortionist and madman Don Alder, this is a G4 married with the Novax Fanned Fret™ fingerboard. Do you play in DADGAD and C [or lower] tunings? Do you tune down a half or even a whole step? This guitar will give you shivers! Lots of kick and clarity to the bass, exceptional intonation everywhere on the neck.

"This guitar has the clear, calm force of a norse god making a point about something."

Harp Guitar Story

The harp guitar (or "harp-guitar") is a stringed instrument with a history of well over two centuries. While there are several unrelated historical stringed instruments that have appropriated the name “harp-guitar” over the centuries, the term today is understood as the accepted vernacular to refer to a particular family of instruments defined as "A guitar, in any of its accepted forms, with any number of additional unstopped strings that can accommodate individual plucking."[1] Additionally, in reference to these instruments, the word "harp" is now a specific reference to the unstopped open strings, and is not specifically a reference to the tone, pitch range, volume, silhouette similarity, construction, floor-standing ability, nor any other alleged "harp-like" properties. To qualify in this category, an instrument must have at least one unfretted string lying off the main fretboard. Further, the unfretted strings can be, and typically are, played as an open string.

This family consists of a virtually limitless variety of different instrument configurations. Most readily identified are American harp guitars with either hollow arms, double necks or harp-like frames for supporting extra bass strings, and European bass guitars (or kontragitarres). Other harp guitars feature treble or mid-range floating strings, or various combinations of multiple floating string banks along with a standard guitar neck

Gibson Electric Guitar [Les Paul Custom]

“Here is the ultimate in a solid body guitar … The Incomparable Les Paul Custom Guitar,” — Gibson catalog, circa mid-1950s

Today’s Les Paul Custom is based on the model from the mid-1950s, but with several modern appointments. The body is crafted with a hand-carved maple top, which is fitted to a body made from a solid piece of mahogany with strategically routed holes to lessen the weight of the guitar, resulting in a Les Paul with enhanced acoustic qualities and improved resonance. The 24 ¾-inch scale length neck is also made from one solid piece of mahogany then topped by a 22-fret ebony fingerboard outfitted with figured acrylic block inlays and given Gibson’s traditional rounded profile. The pickups are Gibson’s 490R in the neck position, which offers the tonal characteristics of the original PAFs, and the 498T in the bridge position, which swaps the 490R’s Alnico II magnet for an Alnico V, thus making it slightly hotter with emphasis on mid-ranges and highs. Other appointments include Gibson’s legendary Nashville Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, metal tulip tuners, multi-ply white and black binding on both the top and back, gold hardware and a 1 11/16” nut width. The Les Paul Custom is available in Antique White, Ebony, Heritage Cherry Sun Burst, Wine Red and Silver Burst, and each guitar comes with the standard Gibson Custom case and certificate of authenticity.

Gibson Electric Guitar [Dusk Tiger]

You have a rare wealth of creative potential lurking deep within, but until now no guitar has had the power to fully tap into it. Enter the Dusk Tiger, simply the most astounding innovation in the history of the guitar. In the wake of Gibson’s groundbreaking Dark Fire, the new Dusk Tiger offers an unprecedented wealth of features to expand your sonic horizons exponentially, yet it brings them to you with greatly increased levels of performance and ease of use, and all at a more affordable price. And not only does Dusk Tiger offer an awe-inspiring versatility of tone and playability, it also captures a stunning new look that is arguably more refined than anything Gibson has ever produced. It retains the general Les Paul-inspired body lines, but presents them in a guitar with a flat top made from an exotic hardwood beaming with golden, amber, and dark chocolate hues. This top is coupled with a tone-chambered back, and a unique new pickguard and control layout. Under the hood, the Dusk Tiger reveals countless new features that give it even more power, along with considerable upgrades and improvements of existing electronics and control systems, and an unlimited number of sound possibilities. New to the Dusk Tiger are:
Programmable active four-band parametric EQ systems for both the magnetic and the piezo pickups, which allow infinite fine tuning of your tone
Switchable LP-Z High Definition Impedance circuit (low impedance capabilities) built into improved Neutrick jack with both ¼” and XLR outputs
And much, much more…

Gibson Electric Guitar [50th Anniversary 1960 ES-335TD]

50th Anniversary 1960 ES-335TD
In the late 1950s, Gibson was boldly pushing the envelope on electric guitar design. The effort resulted in several models that were just too far ahead of their time to sink in with players of the day—the Flying V and Explorer being cases in point — and were gone from the catalogue by 1960. The ES-335 however was an instant classic, embraced by blues, rock, country and jazz players the world over. By 1960, this model was really hitting its stride though it was certainly a year of transition for the iconic model. In the beginning of 1960, the ES-335TDs were built to the same specs as the 1959 versions and were offered in only Natural and Sunburst finishes. By about midyear, neck specs began to change to a thinner and more elliptical feel and ultimately, production of the Natural ES-335TD would cease and the Cherry finish would take its place in the latter part of the year. It is this later version that many argue the 1960 ES-335TD’s features had settled into their optimum form. With a fast new neck profile, striking new “insert” or “reflector” tone and volume knobs, the ES-335TD still retained early-spec details such as the dot fingerboard inlays, a kind of “Mickey Mouse” double cutaway profile, full-length maple centerblock, and nickel-plated hardware that players have long seen as indicative of the model’s zenith. All these and more are brought back to life in the Custom Shop 50th Anniversary 1960 ES-335TD, a reincarnation of one of the most legendary semi-hollow electric guitar of all time, handcrafted by Gibson Custom’s Memphis division to celebrate the model’s “golden anniversary”. For this celebration, Gibson Custom is offering the later 1960 “fast neck profile” version, the most unique of the year, and is available in Antique Vintage Sunburst, Antique Faded Cherry or Antique Natural finish, all aged in Gibson’s acclaimed VOS (Vintage Original Specs) process, and loaded with period-correct hardware including “insert” volume and tone knobs, double band tuners and a pair of accurate PAF-style 57 Classic humbucking pickups. Additionally the neck features a holly head veneer, tortoise shell side dot material and has been completely re-tooled with accurate truss rod channel depth and profile based on scans by the Gibson Custom Shop Engineering Team. The Custom Shop 50th Anniversary 1960 ES-335TD is the closest today’s player can come to obtaining the look, feel and tone of an original dot-neck 1960 ES-335TD, short of remortgaging the house and sinking the kids’ college fund on the venture.

Dean ® Dave Mustaine Signature VMNT Electric Guitar

Dave Mustaine Signature V from Dean Guitars. Though that might say it all, you should also know that this beast comes loaded with screaming Dave Mustaine Live Wire USA custom active humbuckers, and Dunlop flush mount straplocks. With its beveled edges, this V really looks like it can fly. Mustaine remarks that this guitar's neck is even better than what he has played before, and that the deluxe inlays, which are like a dot/sharktooth combo, are remarkable.

Johnson ® Songwriter Series II Jumbo

Songwriter Series II Jumbo

The Songwriter Series II is one of the most affordable, best sounding solid top acoustic guitars available. This guitar features a solid Sitka spruce top that's perfect for a wide range of tones and arguably keeps sounding better with age.
The jumbo model has a larger lower bout that increases the warmth of the bass while also accentuating the mid-range frequencies for an excellent, even tone. This guitar comes with mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck, herringbone body binding and a herringbone rosette.

Johnson ® Trailblazer Deluxe Travel Guitar

Perfect for travel or practice, Johnson proudly brings you the solid spruce top Trailblazer Deluxe travel guitar.
The Trailblazer Deluxe makes it easy to sound great anywhere. With the classic, natural sound you can only get from solid spruce in a portable package, this guitar is ready to go wherever the muse takes you. With a full-size 24-3/4” scale length, the Trailblazer Deluxe gives players the same comfort and playability as a full-size dreadnought, but in a travel-friendly package.
With 22 frets and a rosewood fretboard, the Trailblazer Deluxe has a familiar feel, like that of a standard sized guitar neck. Many players may have avoided choosing a travel guitar because of their concern that travel guitars, with smaller body shapes often sound thin with very little bass. Thanks to the Trailblazer’s carefully designed body, solid spruce top, mahogany sides and arched mahogany back, the Trailblazer Deluxe gives players on-the-go the same robust, warm sound as a traditional dreadnought.
The Johnson Trailblazer Deluxe comes complete with its own carrying bag, so players will be ready to travel with it anywhere easily and comfortably.

Signed Strat Fetches Record $2.8M at Auction Rocker Bryan Adams to donate proceeds to tsunami-torn Asia

An autographed Fender Stratocaster® guitar auctioned off on Nov. 16 in the tiny Middle Eastern kingdom of Qatar fetched an astounding $2.8 million, shattering the previous world record for a guitar sold at auction.Auctioning the guitar was the work of internationally acclaimed Canadian songwriter/musician/photographer Bryan Adams and Fender Europe Artist Relations Manager Jamie Crompton, who both wanted to find a way to raise money for Asian disaster relief in the wake of last year’s deadly Indian Ocean tsunami. The buyer was Her Highness Sheihka Miyyassah Al Thani, heir to the throne of Qatar and chairwoman of Reach Out To Asia, a fund-raising campaign dedicated to supporting numerous relief efforts on the Asian continent, with a special focus on promoting global responsibility for basic, quality education to children and adults throughout Asia and the Middle East. The previous world-record price for a guitar sold at auction was held by Eric Clapton’s famous “Blackie” Stratocaster, which went for $959,000 at Christie’s in New York on June 24, 2004.The auction was part of that evening’s gala charity dinner at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Doha, the inaugural event in Reach Out to Asia’s planned yearlong campaign of high-profile fund-raising events for the 10-year (2005-2015) Fund For Asia. Adams and members of the Qatari royal family were joined by guests including former U.S. President Bill Clinton, British entrepreneur Richard Branson, Belgian cycling legend Eddy Merckx, actor Jet Li and CNN presenter Richard Quest.“I decided to launch a fund-raising event to benefit those who had been affected by the disaster,” said Adams, who also gave a short performance at the event. “I asked my peers to sign one single guitar, which could be auctioned in aid of the cause, with the guitar acting as a kind of symbol of hope and solidarity.”Early in 2005, Adams, acting under the banner of his own Tsunami Guitar Project, procured from Fender an Arctic White Standard Series Stratocaster, which he then had signed by a veritable who’s who of rock royalty. In addition to Adams himself, the guitar was eventually autographed by Clapton, Jimmy Page, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Brian May, Liam and Noel Gallagher, Jeff Beck, Pete Townshend, Ray Davies, David Gilmour, Tony Iommi, Mark Knopfler, Angus and Malcolm Young, Paul McCartney and Sting.Another member of Qatar’s royal family bought the guitar from Adams at an auction in early 2005 for $270,000. Adams surprised guests at the Nov. 16 event in Doha by announcing that the original buyer was donating the instrument to Reach Out to Asia for re-auction, after which it soon reached its world-record price.“The result was overwhelming,” Adams said. “With the donation of a Stratocaster guitar from Fender and a very kind donation from Her Highness Sheihka Miyyassah Al Thani, we will finance two very important projects: the re-building and supply of equipment for a school in Thailand and the building of a village sports center to provide facilities for seven village schools in Sri Lanka. My sincere thanks to all of my fellow musicians and friends for their time, generosity and kindness.”Adams said the project was exciting and added that he is “delighted to be able to support the efforts of those involved in the Reach Out to Asia campaign.”The first concert event in the Reach Out to Asia campaign will be a performance by Adams in Doha on Feb. 1, 2006.

Takamine ® TNV340S Guitar Acoustic

This guitar is absolutely gorgeous. It has a Bear Claw Spruce Top and Mahogony back and sides (no laminates here this is all solid wood). It has cream colored binding along the fret baord, around front and back of the body and along the end pin joint from top to back of the guitar. It has nice gold tuners that stay in tune. It has abalone cross patterns on the fret markers, around the sound hole and making up the headstock logo. This guitar also has a split bridge to keep the strings in tune all the way up the neck. This guitar also is loaded with the fantastic Cool Tube Preamp which in my opinion is light years above anything on the market. You can also add the Takamine Tri-ax pickup in addition to the cool tube to add that extra top touch and expand the tonal pallete. There is also a mosaic pattern running from neck to end pin on the back split of the guitar. The 340S doesn't have a cutaway. The neck is 1 and 3/4in at the nut so it's thick but feels natural. The fretboard is ebony. This is a dread design.

Gibson Electric Guitar [1959 ES-335 Dot Reissue]

A newsmaker from its first appearance, this model offers outstanding performance for ensembles, recording, radio and TV … it offers all the advantages of Gibson’s thin-body design with ease of handling, easy fingering and fast action … its sparkling sustaining tone and instant response.” Gibson catalog, 1959 Gibson has always been a guitar maker steeped in tradition. So, after revolutionizing the guitar world with the solidbody Les Paul model in the 1950s, Gibson made a bold return to its roots by offering an electric guitar that encompassed the benefits of a solidbody guitar, but in the image of an acoustic archtop. The result was the ES-335, which was first released in 1958, but would eventually reach its most desirable form one year later in 1959. Now, 50 years after reaching this zenith in semi-acoustic guitar design, Gibson Custom is proud to reintroduce one of the most celebrated guitars in its history, the 1959 ES-335 Dot Reissue. This limited production model from Gibson Custom captures this desirable classic in greater detail than any “reissue”-style guitar previously produced. It is truly an instrument born in the image of its inspiration. Starting with the traditional plain laminated maple top, back and sides, with single-ply crème binding on both the top and back, the 1959 ES-335 Dot Reissue is true to the original’s ’59 specs in almost every detail. Its one-piece, 24-¾ inch scale length mahogany neck features a long tenon, a 22-fret Madagascar rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays and a rounded ’59 neck profile. In addition to its period-correct look, the 1959 ES-335 Dot Reissue recreates the legendary tone of the original model by utilizing a pair of Gibson’s renowned ’57 Classic humbucking pickups, which is the closest thing to original “PAF” pickups on the market today. High-quality CTS volume and tone potentiometers with “bumble bee” capacitors offer a fundamental electronics package, thus insuring the guitar’s unique tone is captured and delivered with the utmost accuracy and originality. Other traditional appointments include vintage tulip tuners, a holly headstock veneer and all nickel hardware, including an ABR-1 bridge and lightweight aluminum stopbar tailpiece. The 1959 ES-335 Dot Reissue is available in Antique Vintage Sunburst or Antique Natural finishes, in either standard gloss or V.O.S. treatments. Each guitar comes with a custom shop reissue case, certificate of authenticity and is strictly limited to just 250 guitars per finish.
